On 14th December 2018, we instructed our lawyers at Liberty to send our complaint about the Department of Education’s pupil data collection and sharing policies to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

We are seeking three outcomes:

  1. The removal of the ability of the Department of Education to ask for nationality data. Though this has stopped, the DfE still have the power to restart it in future.
  2. Deletion of all the collected nationality data on over 6 million children in England.
  3. The end to DfE pupil address data sharing with the Home Office as recommended in the recent #CareNotShare report
